The Prince of Wales Plans to Join UN Climate Conference in South America

Prince William plans to participate in the COP30 climate summit in Brazil in the coming weeks, as confirmed by palace sources.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday evening at a reception ahead of the climate summit, which is set to be held in the Amazonian city of Belem.

The King and Prince were participating in the museum gathering, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a environmental conference preliminary meeting co-hosted by the UK government.

Climate Leadership Commitment

The King has been a long-time champion of protecting nature - and the Prince of Wales has assumed the responsibility, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the UN meeting.

Official representatives have portrayed the Prince's participation at the next COP as stepping up an important role in "global climate discussions".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the royal vehicle, were greeted guests including conservation experts, researchers, environmental activists, diplomats and politicians.

This participation included speaking together with French leader Macron of France and other global statesmen at the Marine Economy Conference in the Principality of Monaco during the current year.

Environmental Prize Link

The climate conference will coincide with the the royal's sustainability recognition program, which will finish in Rio de Janeiro the eve of he joins the climate conference on 6 November.

Recently the prince described the award contenders as "modern-day pioneers".

Monarch's Environmental Record

The King has been a key figure at earlier environmental conferences, giving the opening address in the United Arab Emirates for COP28, including the statement: "We are custodians of the planet, not its owners".

"Throughout my life I've dedicated a large proportion of my life trying to raise awareness about the survival risks challenging our world over climate change, environmental shifts and species extinction," the sovereign addressed attendees.
