FC Barcelona Winger Yamal Excluded for Newcastle Champions League Fixture

Yamal playing for Barcelona
The young talent contributed significantly in Barcelona’s Spanish league title win last season.

Young forward Lamine Yamal will miss Barça’s upcoming UCL encounter against the Magpies midweek.

The talented teenager was absent from Barcelona’s recent triumph against Valencia CF due to a hip problem.

His unavailability comes after concerns about the volume of action Yamal logged during international duty representing his country.

The Barcelona starlet played for 79 minutes in his national team’s 3-0 win over Bulgaria in early September.

He also, played for most of the match just in the subsequent fixture during another one-sided result over Turkey.

The Catalan club still earned a decisive comprehensive triumph over Valencia without their young attacker.

Barcelona chosen to leave out Yamal in their traveling party ahead of the Champions League first match against Newcastle United.

Sidelined from this match are Spain defender Alejandro Balde due to a hamstring issue and midfielder Gavi, who is suffering from a knee injury.

On a positive note, Netherlands midfielder De Jong returns available after sitting out the previous fixture due to national team duty.

Barcelona had a strong campaign last year, winning the La Liga championship and reaching the last four of the UCL until exiting against the Italian side.
